Every Neonatal Unit experience is unique, but most babies follow a general path of progress before they’re ready to go home. LetoGlow NICU Pathway™ helps you track your baby’s development, understand their needs, and celebrate milestones along the way.
Your baby is receiving oxygen support, IV fluids, and staying in an incubator for temperature regulation. The next goal is to stabilize breathing and maintain body temperature.
At this stage, your baby may begin phototherapy for jaundice and transition from IV fluids to tube feeding. This is also when many parents experience their first Kangaroo Cuddle (skin-to-skin bonding).
Your baby is gaining weight, approaching their birth weight or the 1kg milestone, and becoming more independent with breathing.
Your baby is now practicing oral feeding (bottle/breast), growing steadily, and maybe moving from the incubator to a cot.
As your baby nears discharge, you will go through rooming-in, parental training, and the essential car seat check.
Your baby is officially a Neonatal Unit graduate! Feeding fully by mouth, gaining weight steadily, and breathing independently.
